Exercise is for Everyone!

Too busy and tired to exercise? Then try exercising in small block periods. Exercising for 2 minutes at a time is better than nothing. And if you do these 2-minute blocks 15 times in a day (say, once every waking hour), you'll have exercised for a total of 30 minutes. Not too shabby at all.

Another idea is to exercise while watching your favorite TV programs. You can easily lift weights, do ab work, march in place, jump rope, do leg lifts, jump on a mini trampoline, etc. while watching TV.

Tired of Weight Lifting?

If your strength training routine is getting boring, then you need to switch it up. Here are some ways to make your weight training program fun again:

1. Change the number of reps you do (adjust the weight accordingly)
2. Challenge yourself and set goals
3. Find a workout partner who's in better shape than yourself and try to outwork him or her
4. Find a workout partner who's in worse shape than you and act like his or her's 'personal trainer'
5. Change the type of workout you do (like instead of using machines, use only dumbbells or bodyweight)
6. If you workout at home, then try working out at a gym (nothing motivates better than a bunch of people watching you train)

Switch it Up

Don't let your exercise routine become stale or you run the risk of quitting it all together. Need help to spice up your exercise program? Here are some unconvential ideas:

1. Jump rope
2. Bounce on a mini trampoline
3. Hoola hoop
4. Skateboard (remember to wear protective gear!)
5. Get a dance video from the library (and learn to Rumba while getting in shape)

RopeSport DVD

I went to the store earlier today and bought this exercise DVD, RopeSport. It is so much fun (even though I sweated like a pig when I did the workout).

The workout is based around jumping rope, but the instructor adds a variety of leg moves. I paid $10 at Target for the workout DVD and a weighted jump rope. If you're strapped for cash, see if your library has it.

RopeSport is a workout guaranteed to energize you!

Is Bicycling Part of Your New Year's Goals?

Are you ready to bicycle your way to fitness and health? That's wonderful news! If you'll be taking your cycling out on the open road, remember these safety rules:

1) Ride with the traffic, not against it. Yes, as a cyclist on the road, you are considered a vehicle.

2) Always use caution at stop signs and traffic lights. Don't take it for granted that vehicles will heed for you. Always act as if the vehicle does not see you, and proceed accordingly.

3) Look out for obstacles on the ground. When riding on dirt paths (or, really, any type of path) be mindful of dangers that may be lying in your way, such as tree branches and rocks.

4) Let someone know your bicycling route. If your cycling loop is in a remote area, tell someone where you are headed first and an approximate time when you'll be back. If you injure yourself, then recusers will likely find you sooner.

Seattle Condos

CondoList is a new program from CondoCompany.com that lets Realtors, Owners, and Developers list their Seattle Condos for sale.

CondoCompany.com gets an average of a thousand unique hits (that's visitors, for the non-tech people among us). These visitors are seeking to buy condos, sell condos, or both.

Forget the middleman, forget extra fees, and forget wasting your time with other Web sites. The CondoList shows people in the market for a condo the contact information of the listing agent or owner for each condo. For more information, go to their Web site to read about CondoCompany.com's "Building Specialists" program. This program gets you in contact with a specially trained real estate agent who is connented with a certain condo building, such as a high-rise or luxury building.

Four Components of an Exercise Program

A well balanced activity plan call for four components:

1. Endurance Training -- to improve the circulatory system

2. Strength Training -- to prevent major muscle loss

3. Balance Exercises -- to prevent falls

4. Stretching -- for flexibility

These four components should be a part of your exercise routine. Do them often, but not to the point of extreme soreness or injury. Also, plenty of sleep at the start of your new exercise program and commit to eating healthier foods.

Frailty

Sarcopenia occurs when a person loses their muscle and strength. And, not only that, but affects the muscle quality of what is left as well.

In layman terms, sarcopenia is known as 'frailty'. Often associated with the eldery, sarcopenia is something we all want to avoid. Researchers are working to find answers to why we lose muscle as we age. Until more answers are found, keep pumping those weights and keep exercising. It really does help!
